The arrival of esports to msg

  • ACTIVATED AMPLIFICATION ACROSS official digital channels of riot games, all participating nalcs teams, and various media accounts (ign, espn, etc)

  • Global TRENDING TOPIC ON TWITTER

When Riot Games' brought the North American League Championship Series of League of Legends  (NALCS) to MSG, it not only marked a significant moment for fans but for the history of esports itself. With a global audience streaming the championship, hundreds of members of mainstream media covering, and over 32,000 fans in attendance, the the 2016 NALCS at MSG is considered by many as the true "arrival of esports,"   To document the two days of festivities, I produced the following recap piece as told by the fans as part of a company initiative to highlight the importance of esports to the company's future growth.  While mainly serving for internal purposes, the video package was published on MSG's digital platforms which would also subsequently be shared with Riot Games' official channels to their millions of fans.

Sentiment online for the piece was nearly 99% positive with many fans applauding MSG's willingness to legitimize esports and effectively build a growing fanbase for their eventual acquisitions in the field.
